Invented in the 1920s by Charlie Becker, this was a patented, automatic seine net pulling machine. It revolutionized the shore-based fishing industry around the Inner Bay of Long Point by allowing fishermen to cast and haul significantly longer nets.
The Port Rowan-South Walsingham Heritage Association has preserved an original Becker Puller and stationary engine, with approved plans to display it publicly within a new pavilion at the Port Rowan Harbour waterfront.
